Meet Our Student: Bassem

At 17, I find myself on a path that humbles me every day. Born into a rich heritage that blends the grace of Thai culture with the profound depths of Islamic knowledge, I feel incredibly blessed. As I walk through the corridors of our school, the scent of books and the quiet whispers of Quranic recitation fill the air—reminding me of the journey I’ve taken, and the one that still lies ahead.

Being in my second year of the Alim course is nothing short of a privilege. Fiqh, Hadith, and Islamic History—the essence of our tradition—have opened my heart to understand how intricately woven our faith is, guiding every aspect of life. There are moments when I sit in class, lost in thought, marveling at the wisdom our teachers share with us. They aren’t just instructors; they are beacons of light, guiding me and my peers through the complexities of both this world and the Hereafter. Their patience, compassion, and relentless dedication inspire me to become more than just a student of knowledge. They make me aspire to carry this torch forward and guide others, just as they have guided me.

A Journey Though Mercy

By Allah’s infinite mercy, I have been honored to complete my Hifz of the Qur’an—a journey that transformed my soul. I can still remember the late nights, the quiet hours before dawn when the world was still, and it was just me and the words of Allah. Every letter, every verse, felt like a whisper of divine mercy, comforting me, strengthening me. It wasn’t just about memorizing; it was about embodying the beauty of the Qur’an in my life.

In my free time, I enjoy soccer and volleyball with friends. There’s a joy in the camaraderie, in the shared laughs and competitive spirit, that brings balance to my life. My friends, who have been with me through thick and thin, are my support system—a reminder that the bonds we form in this world, when rooted in sincerity, are a blessing from Allah.

I often reflect on what my future holds, and with each passing day, my heart grows firmer in its desire to become a Mufti. Not for the sake of titles or recognition, but to serve—serving Allah’s creation by helping others find solutions and guidance in the face of challenges. There is a deep yearning within me to offer the knowledge I’ve been blessed with, to be there for others in moments of uncertainty, just as my teachers have been for me.

And, insha’Allah, one day, I hope to give back to the very place that has nurtured me. Our educational environment is more than a school—it’s a sanctuary, a place where the heart and mind are trained to worship Allah fully. My dream is to support and enhance this environment, to create a space where future students can experience the same love for knowledge and faith that I have been so fortunate to find.

Every step I take, I feel Allah’s mercy guiding me. My journey is far from over, but I am deeply grateful for the path I am on. I pray that Allah continues to guide me, and that one day, I can be a source of light and guidance for others, as my teachers have been for me.
